Notes
Typical route is nationality acquisition by declaration after ~5 years of uninterrupted legal residence with main residence registered at the commune. At the time of filing, applicants generally must hold an unlimited/permanent or unrestricted right of residence (e.g., B/C/D, E+, F+ or equivalent). Evidence usually includes language knowledge (national language) plus integration/economic participation depending on the declaration case. File is submitted at the commune civil registry.
Dual citizenship
Dual citizenship: Allowed
Renunciation required: No
Notes for dual citizenship
Belgium allows multiple nationalities. Belgian authorities do not ask applicants to renounce their original nationality, but the applicant should verify whether their original country has rules that cause loss of citizenship upon acquiring Belgian nationality.
